Last week we had a wonderful campaign house party in Cumberland hosted by my friend Bob Riggs. It was a really fantastic event attended by over 35 people that highlighted the strong support our campaign has in Allegany County and provided an invaluable opportunity for me to hear directly from local residents and outline my campaign platform. Earlier this month we opened our campaign office in Hagerstown and we’re planning on building on the strong grassroots support we have in Western Maryland.

At the house party I discussed how we can rebuild and expand local infrastructure to create good jobs and help local businesses grow, what we need to do to protect our environment and bringing more private sector investment to Western Maryland. I’ve fought for Western Maryland from day one and my campaign is about bringing my real world job creation experience to the table. Last year I worked with local officials to craft a Western Maryland Agenda, a set of bipartisan policies to strengthen the economy. In addition to infrastructure, we need to do more to encourage tourism, expand broadband access, support farmers and review state and federal policies that hurt rural communities.

Attendees included Mayor Brian Grim, Councilman Seth Bernard, President of WMD Labor Council George Koontz, Chairman of Allegany County Dem Central Committee Robin Summerfield, and President of Allegany County NAACP Carmen Jackson.

Thank you to everyone who took time out of their schedule to attend and share your thoughts. I was humbled by the show of support and am excited to work on our shared goals of a more prosperous Western Maryland, where everyone has an opportunity to succeed.
