On June 20, Congressman John Delaney held an entrepreneurship workshop in Hagerstown, bringing experts directly to Marylanders interested in starting or growing their own business.

It is vital for entrepreneurs to develop business plans before their first product is sold, understand their insurance needs and be wary of computer hackers who have become very proficient at stealing valuable information.

Those were among the nuggets of wisdom imparted to participants in a entrepreneurship workshop hosted in downtown Hagerstown Monday afternoon by U.S. Rep. John Delaney, D-Md.

Before being elected in 2012, Delaney founded and led two successful publicly traded companies.

Delaney said before the 5 p.m., program at the Washington County Free Library that supporting entrepreneurs is one of the most important initiatives he can lead.

“They get out there and take risks, and the ones that work really create businesses and jobs and change people’s lives,” he said.
