Union Leader: Democratic presidential candidate John Delaney campaigns in NH

“What I really liked about John was the fact that he wants to bring back this idea of the American Dream and civility and our stature globally — those are all things that Americans are struggling with right now as we move forward into the future and that whole ‘focus on the future,’ I can totally see that on one of his campaign signs. We’re going to focus on the future. It’s what we really need to be doing.”

Democratic presidential candidate John Delaney campaigns in NH

About 30 people gathered at the Peterborough Town Library for a meet and greet pizza lunch with Democratic presidential hopeful and Maryland Congressman John Delaney.

The event was held by the chairman of the New Hampshire Chapter of the High School Democrats, Dublin School student Owen Mortner.

Sunday was Delaney’s seventh trip to the Granite State. So far he is the only Democrat to announce his candidacy.

“A lot of people are running, but they are just not being honest about it,” Delaney said.

Delaney said he flew in Sunday morning and started his day meeting with a small group of voters before the library event. After the event wrapped up Delaney headed to Keene for a house party.

Delaney said he wants people to get to know him now while the field is clear.

“I think I am the right person. I have the right vision, but not enough people know me so I’m going to solve that problem by jumping in early,” Delaney said.
