Delaney: Trump’s Lack of Leadership is Hurting Real Families

FRIENDSHIP HEIGHTS, MD – This weekend, federal employees will begin missing paychecks due to the government shutdown.

John Delaney releases the following statement:

“President Trump’s inability to lead the country is hurting real people. Federal workers and contractors all across this country awoke this morning, hoping that their bank accounts would reflect the hard work and dedication that has always embodied the American workforce, but people still aren’t getting paid. Instead, they’re seeing empty pay stubs.

“Last year, the Federal Reserve reported that 40% of American households cannot cover an unexpected $400 dollar expense and now we are putting additional families under pressure. We’re talking about mortgages, rent, health care, food, electricity – essentials.

“This is wrong and not how we live up to our obligations. The President should end this political stunt and open our government. There are real problems that need to be addressed. The American workers do not deserve to be treated like hostages in an illogical negotiation. American workers should be paid for their work, period.”
