FRIENDSHIP HEIGHTS, MD – John Delaney releases the following statement:
“April and I offer our condolences to the people of New Zealand and our prayers to the victims and their families of the heinous terrorist attack on the Muslim community that left 49 dead many others wounded. Americans stand firmly with you in our enduring struggle to eradicate hate and senseless violence.
“We are witnessing an increase in acts of terror all over the world. Fueled by extremism, linked to religious, political, cultural and racial bigotry and hate, and exaggerated by social media, acts of terror are murdering citizens, threatening communities, and altering our very way of life. This particular act of terror was linked to dangerous trends in white supremacy and racial hatred, something that is deeply wrong and must be condemned in the strongest way possible.
“We must both publicly reject hate-driven attacks and violence and we must condemn those that amplify racist and hateful rhetoric. At this difficult moment, the American people stand in solidarity with our Muslim brothers and sisters and we know that an attack on one faith is an attack on every faith. Now is the time for us to stand together and remind the world that what unites us is far greater than what divides us.”
