FRIENDSHIP HEIGHTS, MD – Last week, President Trump threatened to close parts, if not all, of the Mexican border if Mexico does not stop undocumented immigrants from entering the country.
Presidential candidate John Delaney releases the following statement:
“More than $1.5 billion in goods crosses the US-Mexico border each day. Closing our southern border is a political stunt that will have a devastating impact on our own economy. This is an unnecessary and deliberate attempt by the White House to distract attention away from their failed policies and continue to divide the country. We can resolve our immigration issues today, by passing the bipartisan comprehensive immigration reform bill from 2013. Jumping from crisis to crisis is no way to govern the most powerful country in the world. It is a sign of failed leadership. It is time for Washington to start working for the American people, not working to impede progress.”
